Here you can see the styrene strips I put in (mentioned in the video) over the main landing gear doors to re-enforce them.

Had to get a little sloppy on puttying around the gear doors because they fit so poorly!.

737, Shuttle Wars, and other projects

You may have noticed that I pulled the 737 stills down from this blog. That is because I discovered that you can have a blog with multiple pages. My intent was to separate the shuttle pics and the 737 pics into separate pages to make it easier to view what you are most interested in. However, I soon found out that although you can have several pages on the blog, you can only post to the main page. The rest have to be "static" pages. So that isn't going to work when I am trying to publish photos as I proceed through a build. So now I am back to putting everything on this one page.

Additionally, the 737 had a bit of a finish disaster with the natural metal product I was using damaging the gloss black undercoat . So now I have to strip the 737 down to bare plastic and repaint, applying the lessons learned, in the attempt. As I mentioned in the videos, I have little experience with bare metal finishes so the learning curve is steep. However, I am confident I will get it figured out. The is my third time around on this kit and I have screwed up the natural metal application about every possible way there is to do it. I am homing in on the way to do it right. Once I get some paint on the 737 and get back to where I was in the construction process, I will restart video and stills.

The good news is the Shuttle Wars project is proceeding along nicely.. I do have several other projects in work, but they were already started and I have not done any video on them. However, I will probably just jump right in and start taping them as neither is in an advanced stage of construction.

External Tank Assembly complete.

The Solid Rocket Boosters are divided into two main sections...above and below the attachment point to the external tank.

Revell above.

Revell on the left and Monogram on the right. The Revell has superior relief for the nose thrusters, raised tile detail, and accurately sized windows.

An issue with the Revell nose: the fuselage halves do not align well.
